Overcoming the Hurdle of Feeling Shy or Awkward During Photos

It’s completely normal to feel a little shy or awkward in front of the camera, especially if you’re not used to having professional photos taken. At Kate Buckles Photography, we understand this, and our goal is to make sure you feel comfortable, confident, and ready to enjoy every moment of your session.

Here are a few tips to help you overcome those nerves and truly shine:

1. Trust Your Photographer

Our job is to guide you every step of the way! You don’t need to know how to pose or worry about what to do in front of the camera. We’ll gently coach you through each pose and capture candid moments that feel natural. Just focus on being yourself and let us handle the rest.

2. Bring Something Familiar

Having something familiar like a favorite jacket, accessory, or even a prop can help ease your nerves. It gives you something to interact with and makes the experience more comfortable and fun. Plus, it adds a personal touch to your photos.

3. Start with Casual Poses

We’ll begin with some relaxed, candid shots to help ease you into the session. Once you start to feel more comfortable, the more posed shots will flow naturally.

4. Think About the Outcome

Focus on why you’re having these photos taken—capturing special memories, celebrating a milestone, or just preserving moments with loved ones. That bigger picture helps push aside any initial shyness.
