Welcoming a new baby is such a special time, and your upcoming newborn photo session is the perfect way to capture those precious first moments as a family. Dads, we know you want to be supportive and help make this experience as smooth and enjoyable as possible for everyone—especially for the new mama in your life. 1. Help with the Prep Work
There’s a lot to think about when getting ready for a photo session, and your support can make all the difference. You can:
Pack the Diaper Bag: Include essentials like diapers, wipes, burp cloths, and a change of clothes for the baby (and maybe for you, too!).
Assist with Outfits: Help pick out coordinating outfits for the family. Keep things simple, neutral, and comfy.
Manage the Schedule: Keep track of the session time and ensure everyone is ready to go without feeling rushed.
2. Be the Calm in the Chaos
Newborn sessions can be unpredictable—babies might need to eat, sleep, or take a moment to settle. Stay patient, calm, and supportive. Your positive energy will help keep mama and baby relaxed.
3. Be Hands-On with the Baby
Offer to hold, soothe, or entertain your little one during breaks. If the baby needs a diaper change or cuddle, jump in and help. These small actions show you’re an engaged partner and parent.
4. Encourage and Compliment Her
New mamas often feel tired and self-conscious during this stage. Remind her how amazing she looks and how incredible she’s doing. A little encouragement goes a long way in boosting her confidence.
5. Be Ready to Participate
Even if photos aren’t usually your thing, this session is about capturing your family’s love and connection. Be ready to jump in for those sweet moments—it means so much to her to have you fully present.
6. Bring Snacks and Water
Photo sessions can take a bit of time, and new mamas need to stay fueled and hydrated. Pack some easy snacks and a water bottle for her (and yourself, too!).
7. Trust the Photographer
At Kate Buckles Photography, we’ve worked with countless families and know how to create a relaxed and enjoyable environment. Trust us to guide you through poses and moments, and let us handle the details.
Cherish the Experience
Your newborn photo session isn’t just about the photos—it’s about celebrating the new chapter in your family’s life. By being supportive and engaged, you’re helping to create a memory you’ll all treasure forever.
